EE has some of the UK’s best mobile coverage with both 4G and 5G, as well as typically delivering high speeds in third-party tests, so it’s an excellent network choice, but it’s also an expensive one.
Getting access to EE’s coverage doesn’t have to cost a lot though, as some MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) also use EE’s coverage and infrastructure, and often at a much lower price.
Below then, we’ve detailed the key networks using EE that you can get SIM Only plans on.
The key selling point of 1pMobile is revealed by its name, as this network charges just 1p per minute, 1p per text, and 1p per megabyte of data on Pay As You Go. Of course, we’re more interested in SIM Only, and 1pMobile is also very affordable for that, with a selection of flexible 30-day rolling plans offered, topping out at unlimited data, and all competitively priced, and coming with unlimited minutes and texts.
Beyond that – and sharing EE’s coverage – 1pMobile offers inclusive EU roaming (up to a fair usage limit of 14GB of data), and there’s tethering, 5G, Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling, and cheap international calls. There are also no credit checks on 1pMobile.
Lyca Mobile also uses EE’s network, but it specialises in international calls and travel. Its plans include a variable number of international minutes that you can use to call abroad from the UK, and as well as being able to roam at no extra cost in the EU, many plans also let you roam in India (with a variable fair usage limit, depending on your plan).
Lyca Mobile offers a wide selection of SIM Only plans, coming in at 1-month, 12-month, and 24-month durations, and you get 5G as standard, as well as tethering and the option of an eSIM.
Lyca Mobile’s plans come with up to unlimited data, and if you choose a 30-day plan then you won’t have to pass a credit check.
You’ll also get EE’s coverage if you take out a plan on Spusu. This network sells just a small selection of SIM Only plans, but they all come with unlimited minutes and texts, you can get up to unlimited data, and they’re all on flexible 30-day rolling contracts.
Spusu’s SIM Only plans also all come with 500 international minutes, which you can use to call EU countries from the UK, and it lets you roam in the EU and Switzerland at no extra cost (up to a variable fair usage limit that depends on the plan you have).
The network also promises a freeze on prices until 2026, and its plans additionally come with 5G, tethering, Wi-Fi Calling, and 4G Calling. Spusu won’t credit check you either, and it gives you the option of using an eSIM.
