Why choose a Lebara SIM Only deal?

Lebara sells both 30-day and 12-month SIM Only plans, all of which come with 5G, and they all also include international minutes, so you can call abroad to 42 countries at no extra cost. These countries include much of Europe, plus the likes of the US, Australia, Canada, China, and many other places.

Lebara also lets customers roam across the EU at no extra cost, and even goes one further by including roaming in India. So this is a very internationally focused network.

Lebara’s SIM Only plans come with up to unlimited data, and they also support Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling, and tethering.

Is Lebara a good network?

Lebara is a great network for anyone who frequently calls abroad or travels internationally, but it’s also a solid choice in the UK. For one thing, it uses Vodafone’s infrastructure, so it has identical 4G and 5G coverage to Vodafone.

That means there’s over 99% UK population coverage with 4G, and that 5G is available in hundreds of towns and cities, with more getting it at a rapid rate.

Lebara should also offer similar speeds to Vodafone, and according to a 2023 report from RootMetrics, Vodafone’s median 5G download speed is 131.5Mbps, while based on a September 2023 Opensignal report, Vodafone has average 5G download speeds of 114.3Mbps, and its average download speed using a combination of 5G, 4G, and 3G, was found to be 27.9Mbps.

Those are decently high speeds, and Lebara seems to be well liked by customers too, because it won the Best Customer Service award at the Mobile Industry Awards in 2023, and has a score of 4.8/5 on Trustpilot at the time of writing.

FAQ

Can I roam abroad with Lebara?

Yes, Lebara offers free roaming both in the EU and India, so you can use your allowances in those places at no extra cost, up to a fair usage limit of 30GB for data.

That’s one of the main selling points of Lebara, as not all networks offer inclusive roaming as standard, and those that do usually limit it to Europe.

Does Lebara have credit checks?

Lebara won’t credit check you for a SIM Only plan, so it’s a great choice if your credit score is low. A lot of networks do carry out credit checks even on SIM Only, so this is an advantage of Lebara.

Can I keep my number when switching to Lebara?

Yes, and it’s easy to do so. Just order a Lebara SIM Only deal, then, while you’re waiting for your new SIM card to arrive, text the word ‘PAC’ to 65075 from your old SIM card, and you’ll be sent a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) in response.

Keep hold of this, and then once your Lebara SIM card has arrived and been activated, head to Lebara’s number transfer page, and enter your temporary Lebara number, the old number you want to keep, and your PAC code. The transfer will then be processed on the date you select.

Can I get unlimited data on Lebara?

Yes, Lebara offers SIM Only deals with unlimited data, and there are no fair usage restrictions for data use in the UK, though there is a fair usage limit of 30GB per month when roaming.
