Which networks offer family SIM deals?

Choosing a family SIM deal is a great way to save money if you want multiple SIM cards on your account – be that because the rest of your family needs SIM cards too, or because you’re using multiple devices with their own SIM cards.

But not every network offers family SIM deals, and across those that do, the discounts and perks vary quite a lot.

So below, we’ve detailed the networks that offer family SIM deals, complete with a look at what you actually get by signing up for these plans.

1pMobile

1pMobile sells family plans but only for its unlimited data bundles, allowing you to get additional ones at half price.

So the first unlimited data bundle on your account will cost £25 per month, but each additional one will cost just £12.50.

There’s no limit to how many additional SIMs you can add and these are all just 30-day rolling plans, so there’s no commitment.

EE

EE Multi-line discount	Up to £10 per month off additional plans, and data gifting

EE offers a multi-line discount, where if you add other family members to your account then you’ll save up to £10 per month on additional SIM Only and airtime plans, and you can get a 10% discount on pay monthly phones, tablets, and laptops.

You can also share data between the plans on your account, helping ensure that it all gets used and no one runs out.

O2

O2 Multisave	20% discount on additional plans

With O2’s Multisave, you can get a 20% discount on the cost of SIM Only plans for additional lines on your account. You can also save 20% on the airtime cost of device plans.

By ‘airtime’ we mean the allowances, so if for example you’re paying £20 for the device itself and £10 for the allowances (totalling £30 per month), the 20% discount would only apply to the cost of allowances – meaning a £2 monthly saving in this example.

In any case, you can add up to 20 numbers to your Multisave group, making this suitable for even the biggest of families.

Sky Mobile

Sky Mobile doesn’t provide any discounts for putting multiple SIM cards on your account, but it does let you share unused data between them, and because the network also lets you roll over data for up to a year, you could potentially build up quite a healthy shared ‘piggybank’.

Up to seven SIM cards can be added to your account, and if you find that you’re not using all your data even once it’s shared, you can trade it in for discounts off devices and accessories.

Smarty

On Smarty, you can add up to eight SIM cards on one account, and you’ll save 10% on each SIM that you add to a group plan.

That’s not the biggest discount but Smarty’s prices are lower than many networks in the first place, and it’s also a flexible network in that its plans are all just 30-day rolling ones, and everyone in the group can choose a plan with different allowances.

However, if everyone picks an unlimited data plan then the discounts are higher, with additional unlimited data plans costing just £15 per month – down from a standard price of £20. But this is only an option if everyone on the account takes an unlimited data plan.

Tesco Mobile

With Tesco Mobile you can only have up to five contracts on a family plan, so fewer than on some networks, but everyone on the plan can choose from a selection of monthly perks.

These include 250MB – 1GB of extra data, 50p – £2 off your bill, 50 – 200 Tesco Clubcard points, and 75p – £2.25 off Tesco Mobile Protect insurance.

The exact amount will depend on your monthly price tariff, and every member of the family plan can select their own perk.

You can also change your perks whenever you want, with the exception of the insurance perk, which can only be chosen when you start your contract.

Three

With Three, you can add up to six additional plans to your account and take advantage of Three Connect Together. This service gives you up to a 20% discount off each additional plan, and as well as SIM Only plans, that discount also applies to Pay Monthly phone plans, as well as tablet and laptop plans, and you can also get 10% off home broadband and mobile broadband plans.

However, the discount only applies to allowances, not the cost of devices.

Vodafone

Vodafone lets you add up to nine additional plans to your account, and each of these will be eligible for a discount if you choose a select SIM Only or phone plan.

At the time of writing there are big discounts to be had, including unlimited SIM plans from £16 per month (down from £35), and unlimited airtime plans (when purchased with a phone) from £19 a month (down from £36).
