SIM Only plans are the best way to save money on your bill for those who are happy with their phone, or comfortable with buying it outright.

You can get deals for as little as £2.49 a month at the time of writing, and there are a lot of plans available for under a fiver.

Which networks offer £5 SIM plans?

Right now Asda Mobile, Lebara, Lyca Mobile, O2, Smarty, Spusu, Talkmobile, and Three all offer SIM plans for £5 or less per month.

Recommended SIM plans for £5 or less

We've handpicked some of the best deals for £5 or less available today. However, we'd also recommended checking out all the plans at or under a fiver using our comparison engine.

1. Lebara - 10GB data for £2.49 a month

Our best value deal right now is on Lebara, which uses Vodafone's network, and where you can get 10GB of data and unlimited minutes and texts for just £2.49 a month for the first four months (then it becomes £7 a month).

That's on a 1-month contract, giving you the flexibility to cancel anytime you like, and you’ll also get 100 international minutes to call over 50 countries from the UK, plus the ability to roam in the EU, China, and India at no extra cost.

2. Lebara - 30GB for £3.99 a month

Those looking for more data should consider Lebara's 30GB, unlimited minutes and texts deal for £3.99 a month for the first 4 months. It'll cost £9 a month after that, but it's only on a 1-month contract so you can cancel anytime you like.

Lebara uses Vodafone’s network, and this plan also gives you 100 international minutes to call over 50 countries, plus inclusive roaming in the EU, India, and China.

3. Three - 3GB for £5 a month

If you'd prefer to choose a more established network with physical stores, then Three is a great option.

For just £5 a month you can get 3GB of data, unlimited minutes and unlimited texts on a 12-month contract.

Can I keep my existing number?

Yes, it's quick and easy to transfer your number to a new network.

Just order your SIM deal and then text 'PAC' (from your old number) to 65075, or alternatively call your current network, tell them you’re leaving and ask for your PAC code.

Pass this code on to the network you’re joining, and your number will be ported, usually within the next working day. Just make sure you don’t delay too long in handing the code over, as they expire after 30 days.

Will my price go up over time?

The main UK networks increase prices a little bit each April. However, out of the networks offering SIM deals for £5 or less a month it's only Three, O2, and Talkmobile that would increase prices.

The good thing about choosing 30-day plans is you aren't locked into a long-term contract, so if you are worried about price increases then that is a good way to go.
