Asda Mobile offers a selection of SIM Only plans, all of which come with unlimited minutes and texts, and some of which come with unlimited data.
All of Asda Mobile’s SIM Only deals also include support for Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling, and tethering, and the majority of them also come with 5G speeds.
Plus, you can use your Asda Mobile SIM Only plan to roam across Europe at no extra cost.
Asda Mobile uses Vodafone’s network, which means it has exactly the same coverage as Vodafone – so anywhere with 4G or 5G on Vodafone also has 4G or 5G on Asda Mobile. That means there’s over 99% population coverage with 4G, and that Asda Mobile’s 5G service is available in hundreds of towns and cities across the UK, with more being added all the time.
Likewise, Asda Mobile should have very similar speeds to Vodafone. Specifically, Vodafone has an average download speed of 31.1Mbps according to September 2024 data from Opensignal, as well as an average upload speed of 7.8Mbps.
That’s when using a combination of 5G, 4G, and 3G, as you’re likely to in general use when out and about. Of course, when exclusively using 5G, Vodafone – and by extension Asda Mobile – is far faster still.
That same report found that Vodafone’s average 5G download speed was 138.7Mbps. Similarly, its median 5G download speed was found to be 184.9Mbps by a 2024 RootMetrics report.
When it comes to what customers think of Asda Mobile, that’s more middling, with the network having a score of 3.6/5 on Trustpilot. That’s considered ‘average’.
Yes, Asda Mobile’s SIM Only plans all include roaming in 46 European destinations, up to a fair usage limit of 5GB.
Not all networks offer free roaming as standard, so this is a great perk, especially as you can also roam at 5G speeds in select locations.
Asda Mobile will credit check you on its 12 and 24-month SIM Only plans, but not on its one-month pay as you go bundles. For other options, check out our guide covering who offers SIM Only deals with no credit check.
Yes, to keep your number when switching to Asda Mobile, you should first order an Asda Mobile SIM Only deal. While you’re waiting for your SIM card to arrive, text the word ‘PAC’ to 65075 from your old SIM card, and you’ll be sent a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) in reply.
Then, once your new Asda Mobile SIM card arrives, put it in your phone to activate it, and then register or log in to your Asda Mobile online account. On here, head to ‘My profile’ and then scroll down to ‘transferring your number’, where you can enter your PAC code and your old mobile number to arrange a transfer. You can alternatively request a transfer by calling 2732 from your temporary Asda number – but make sure you have your PAC code to hand.
Yes, Asda Mobile offers three different unlimited data SIM Only plans. The difference between them is that one caps your speeds at 2Mbps, one at 10Mbps, and one at 150Mbps, with the last of these being the only one that lets you experience true 5G speeds. As you’d expect, the faster options cost more, but they’re still competitively priced.
