Why choose a Lyca Mobile SIM Only deal?

Lyca Mobile offers a selection of both 1-month and 12-month SIM Only plans. So you can choose the freedom and flexibility of a 1-month rolling plan or commit to a longer plan for a lower monthly price.

Whichever plan you choose, you’ll get international minutes included – typically 100 per month, which can be used to call 40 different countries, including Australia, the US, India, China, France, Spain, and many other places.

Most Lyca Mobile plans also include unlimited minutes and texts, and they all come with 5G as standard, at no extra cost.

You can get up to unlimited data as well, and you can roam across the EU at no extra cost on all Lyca Mobile’s SIM Only plans. Tethering is also offered on Lyca Mobile’s plans, so you can share your phone’s data with other devices, to get them online when no Wi-Fi is available.

Is Lyca Mobile a good network?

Lyca Mobile is a good network choice as it shares EE’s coverage and infrastructure, meaning its coverage and speeds should be identical.

That’s great news because EE has almost complete UK population coverage with 4G, and – at last count – over 60% UK population coverage with 5G, which is potentially more than any rival (though exact coverage comparisons are tricky).

In any case, EE’s coverage is great, so Lyca Mobile’s is too, and speeds are also impressive, with a September 2023 Opensignal report finding that EE had an average download speed of 40.0Mbps and an average upload speed of 9.3Mbps. That’s when factoring in a combination of 5G, 4G, and 3G speeds, with the idea being that this is representative of how most people use their phones, and in both cases those speeds are higher than any rival.

When looking at 5G alone, EE – and by extension likely Lyca Mobile – also impresses, with the same report finding that its average 5G download speed was 99.5Mbps, while RootMetrics in 2023 found that EE’s median 5G download speed was even higher at 144.6Mbps.

Customer experience on Lyca Mobile seems more middling, with the network having a Trustpilot score of 3.0/5 at the time of writing, but that’s still higher than many networks.

FAQ

Can I roam abroad with Lyca Mobile?

Yes, Lyca Mobile offers free roaming on all SIM Only plans. You can roam across the EU and use your allowances as normal. Though there is a fair usage limit for data when roaming, with the exact limit varying between plans.

Select plans also include free roaming in India, which isn’t something many networks allow.

Does Lyca Mobile have credit checks?

Lyca Mobile’s SIM Only plans don’t include credit checks. For other networks with no credit checks, take a look at who offers SIM Only deals with no credit checks.

Can I keep my number when switching to Lyca Mobile?

Yes, to keep your number when switching to Lyca Mobile, just order a new Lyca Mobile SIM Only deal, and while you wait for it to arrive, text ‘PAC’ to 65075 from the number you want to keep.

You should get sent a PAC code in reply, which – once you’ve received and activated your Lyca Mobile SIM card – you can give to Lyca Mobile on its number transfer page, to arrange for your old number to be moved across.

Can I get unlimited data on Lyca Mobile?

Yes, Lyca Mobile offers SIM Only plans with unlimited data, though there’s a fair usage limit of around 450GB per month in the UK, and a variable fair usage limit when roaming.
