Asda Mobile is a Vodafone MVNO (mobile virtual network operator), meaning that its coverage is identical to Vodafone’s. So if you know that you want Vodafone’s coverage but don’t necessarily want to sign up for Vodafone itself, then Asda Mobile is a strong – and often cheaper – choice.
Like Vodafone, Asda Mobile also sells SIM Only plans with unlimited data, available in 24-month, 12-month, and 30-day varieties, and it’s these that we’re focused on here.
So below, we’ve detailed Asda Mobile’s unlimited data offerings, along with the other things you get with these plans.
Yes, with Asda Mobile you can roam abroad in 46 European countries at no extra cost. However, there’s a fairly tight 5GB monthly roaming limit, so you can’t use unlimited data abroad.
Not many networks let you use unlimited data abroad, but some do let you use more than 5GB – though often these options cost more to begin with.
No, outside of the fair usage limits (detailed below) there are no speed restrictions on Asda Mobile’s current unlimited data plans, so you can make full use of a 5G connection.
Asda Mobile states that your use shouldn’t exceed 600GB twice or more in a six-month period. If it does, then the network may use traffic management to deprioritise your use of the network relative to other users. It also reserves the right to impose further charges on your account or disconnect your SIM.
However, 600GB is an enormous amount, so it’s not one you should realistically reach if you’re using the network for personal use.
Asda Mobile’s SIM Only plans also include Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling, tethering, and in some cases you can get a percentage of your monthly spend back in your Asda Rewards Cashpot, so this is ideal for anyone who often shops in Asda.
Since Asda Mobile has the same coverage as Vodafone, you could consider Vodafone itself. This network’s plans will often cost more, but you can get more with them too, including in some cases a subscription to Disney Plus or Amazon Prime.
Or you might want to consider Lebara, which also shares Vodafone’s coverage and gives you inclusive international calls, or either Talkmobile or VOXI, both of which are owned by Vodafone and are intended as lower cost alternatives.
