EU Roaming included

Smarty is an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that’s run by Three, so of course it also has the same 4G and 5G coverage as Three.

But it has separate plans, with their own pricing and perks, including a 30-day rolling unlimited data plan that also comes with unlimited minutes and texts.

But this plan also comes with other things, which we’ve detailed below, along with looking at any fair usage restrictions.

Is roaming included?

Yes, Smarty’s SIM Only plans all come with inclusive roaming in the EU, but there’s a 12GB fair use limit. It’s worth noting that on Three itself you have to pay for pricier plans to get roaming, so this is a good perk considering Smarty is run by Three.

Are there any speed restrictions?

No, Smarty won’t restrict your speeds on any of its plans – including its unlimited data plan. The only exception to that is if you break its fair usage restrictions, detailed below.

Are there any fair usage restrictions?

Smarty’s unlimited data plans are truly unlimited in the UK, with no hidden limits. However, the network does note that “if you're consistently using an extremely high amount of data, you may notice slower speeds during times of network congestion.”

Many networks do have hidden limits, so Smarty is less restrictive here than a lot of rivals.

What other benefits are included?

Smarty’s unlimited data SIM Only plan also supports tethering, Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling, and family plans – with additional SIMs getting a discount. Plus, there’s the option of an eSIM.

What other networks should you consider?

If you want Smarty’s coverage then you could consider Three, which is its parent network. Here you’ll find a wider variety of plans and perks, including more extensive roaming options, but often at a higher price.

You might also want to consider Honest Mobile, iD Mobile, or Superdrug Mobile, all of which also have the same coverage as Three.
