Three Unlimited Data SIM deals

Three is one of the UK’s major mobile networks – and it’s becoming even more major now that it’s merging with Vodafone. But despite that merger, it currently still has separate plans and a separate customer base, so until that changes, there’s still a decision to be made between signing up with Vodafone or Three.

If you’re leaning towards the latter, then you might be pleased to know that Three offers SIM Only plans with unlimited data.

These are available in 1, 12, and 24-month durations, and they can also come with various extras, details of which you’ll find below – along with the specifics of whether there are any fair use limits or other restrictions on these plans.

Is roaming included?

Three doesn’t include roaming on its cheapest plans, called ‘Lite’ plans, so you’ll have to pay extra to roam on these plans, but you will get it included with Value and Complete plans.

On Value plans, you can roam in 49 European destinations, while on Complete plans, you can roam in over 160 global destinations – which is among the biggest selection of inclusive roaming locations you’ll find offered by a UK network.

Note however that when roaming there’s a 12GB fair usage limit, so data isn’t unlimited outside the UK, even if you’re on an unlimited data plan.

Are there any speed restrictions?

No, Three won’t restrict your speed on any of its unlimited data plans, regardless of how much data you use. So if you’re in a 5G area and using a 5G device, you can get incredibly high speeds on Three.

Are there any fair usage restrictions?

In the UK there aren’t any fair usage restrictions for unlimited data plans on Three – so there are no hidden caps or speed limits.

However, when using Three’s Go Roam service, you can only use up to 12GB of data per month.

What other benefits are included?

Three’s unlimited data plans also all come with unlimited minutes and texts, as well as access to the Three+ rewards app, which itself holds various discounts and freebies from other brands. Plus, Three allows for Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling, and tethering.

Three also offers family plans, spending caps, and the option of an eSIM. Beyond all that, if you choose a Complete plan, you’ll get a subscription to Paramount+ thrown in for the life of the contract.  

What other networks should you consider?

If you want Three’s coverage but don’t want to be on Three itself, then your options are Honest Mobile, iD Mobile, Smarty, or Superdrug Mobile – all of which also sell unlimited data plans.

Of those, Smarty is especially notable as it’s actually owned by Three, yet its prices are often lower and its plans include EU roaming as standard.

iD Mobile, Honest Mobile, and Superdrug Mobile all also let you roam at no extra cost, with Honest Mobile being interesting for lowering your price over time, as a reward for sticking with the network.
